Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger

High structural reliability

Wide flow passages & easy maintenance

Customizable material options

Multiple structural configurations

Wide application adaptability

Product Overview

Also known as tubular heat exchanger, the shell-and-tube heat exchanger is a surface-type heat transfer equipment. It adopts a tube bundle sealed inside the shell as the heat transfer interface. Two media exchange heat through tube walls without direct mixing.

Engineered by G2 Defense Technology, our shell-and-tube heat exchangers deliver military-grade reliability for defense, aerospace and heavy-duty industrial thermal management. Featuring robust mechanical structure, flexible material selection and outstanding high-temperature & high-pressure resistance, it is the most proven and widely adopted heat exchanger for severe working conditions.

Core Advantages

✅ High structural reliability – Mature mechanical design, stable operation under extreme pressure & temperature

✅ Wide flow passages & easy maintenance – Large flow channels, convenient inspection, descaling and cleaning

✅ Customizable material options – Carbon steel, stainless steel, copper alloy, titanium and special alloys available

✅ Multiple structural configurations – Flexible design to compensate thermal expansion and reduce thermal stress

✅ Wide application adaptability – Works for steam-water, water-water, oil, flue gas and various corrosive media

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity for a custom shell-and-tube heat exchanger?

We support both prototype and volume production. A single custom unit is acceptable for qualification and pilot projects, while batch orders benefit from optimized tooling and pricing.

Which design standards can G2 Defense manufacture to?

Our shell-and-tube heat exchangers are designed and fabricated to TEMA, ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1, GB/T 151 and equivalent national standards. Customer-specific defense specifications can be incorporated on request.

What materials are available for the shell, tubes and tube sheets?

Available materials include carbon steel, stainless steel 304/316L, copper alloy, titanium Gr.2 and Gr.7, duplex stainless steel, Inconel and Hastelloy. Material selection is driven by the corrosivity, temperature and pressure of both media.

What is the typical lead time?

Standard configurations ship in approximately 15 to 30 working days after drawing approval. Complex or defense-qualified units requiring third-party inspection typically take 30 to 60 working days.

What testing and documentation is provided?

Every unit is hydrostatically or pneumatically pressure tested and helium leak tested where specified. We supply material certificates, welding records, pressure test reports, dimensional reports and a full O&M manual.

Can you design a heat exchanger from our operating conditions only?

Yes. Send us the hot and cold medium, flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, allowable pressure drop, design pressure and temperature, and available envelope. Our engineering team performs the thermal simulation and mechanical design and returns a complete proposal.
